" What if? " and " If only " are common thoughts that accompany grief. You might experience feelings of guilt, wondering if you could have done anything else to spare the life of your loved one. You may second-guess every decision and find yourself dwelling in past memories to avoid the pain of the present.
To fill the emptiness, your grief propels you into a deeper level of sadness that settles in your soul. As with denial and anger, this feeling of deep sadness is a very necessary step toward healing.
Over time you come to terms with your bereavement. As you enter into the acceptance of your loss you realize that the death of this significant person becomes a part of your history and a part of your continued journey through life.
One of our responsibilities at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home is to assist you on this path to healing, therefore, we have created 'GOOD GRIEF', an informal and comfortable support group. It is often said that grief shared is grief diminished. Sharing that grief is the mission of this group.
These sessions will grant participants the opportunity to recall and respond to their individual loss with those who are traveling the same path. You will share on a level that is comfortable for you. Simply listening to others can bring comfort and a realization that your feelings are not uncommon and that you are not alone in your grief.
The group will be facilitated in such a way that will allow for topical sessions with ample opportunity for open discussion. We will begin this series on May 21 always at 2:00pm at Reins –Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA. It is not necessary for individuals to attend consecutive session, as each presentation is concerned with varying aspects of the grief journey.
This is an open invitation for all to join us.
Welcome!
