Guy Walter Lee, Sr. was born on September 21, 1944 to the late Carl and Eugenia Lee of Independence, VA.
Guy transitioned from Earth to Glory on December 20, 2023, at his home making his stay on Earth 79 years and three months. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Greg Lee, two brothers, James Lee and David Lee, mother-in-law, Margaret Reeves.
Guy attended Carnegie Schools in Marion, VA. He then went to Scott Memorial in Wytheville, VA until the eighth grade. Guy then volunteered to go into the US Army for four years. Then he returned home to Grayson County. After returning home he worked for the Cotton Mill in Fries, VA. Then worked for Anvil Brand, and then went to Independence Janitorial Department until he retired after 27 years.
Mr. Lee always had something to say good or bad! He told one nephew "pull up your pants and act like a man."
Mr. Lee married the love of his life on February 4, 1967, and to this union was six children, Walter, Gordon, Greg, Geanna, Gerald, and Glendoria. He then joined the Gospel Temple True Church of the Living God under the leadership of Bishop Mary R. Milliner. Mr. Lee took care of the church lawn, and Oak Grove Cemetery until his health declined. He was a man of all trades.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Gladys Lee of the home; three sons, Walter Lee, Jr., of San Diego, CA, Gordon Lee of Independence, VA, Gerald Lee (Jamie) of New market, MD; two daughters, Geanna Lee and Glendoria Lee both of Independence, VA; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five sisters, Della (Nelson) Brown, Independence, VA, Barbara Lee of Arlington, VA, Dorothy Jones, Independence, VA, Roseline Lee, Independence, VA, and Ann Bryson, Galax, VA; sister and brother-in-laws, Nancy Hash (Leonard), Roanoke, VA, Doris Phipps (Pete), Independence, VA, Rita Reeves, Galax, VA, and Junior Reeves, Independence, VA., a host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
A special thanks to his grandson, Brandon Lee for being his caretaker.
