Obituary

Harold Gene Weatherman, age 70, of Monroe, NC and Galax, VA passed away at the Salem Veteran's Hospital in Salem, VA on Saturday, May 13, 2023. He was born in the Comers Rock Community on February 25, 1953, to Elmer Forest and Maggie Mae Hall Weatherman who preceded him in death.

Harold graduated from Independence High School with the Class of 1971. He later earned a B.S. Degree in Psychology from Radford University. He was an outdoorsman until the very end! He loved any type of work that involved his being outside including landscaping, hardscaping, gardening. When being inside was required, he was happy in the kitchen as he was a celebrated cook! He was also content surfing the history channel and watching anything that involved his beloved Virginia Tech. He was a devoted fan and loyal supporter throughout his life. Harold was always on the go and was always involved in one project or another at all times. However, when rest was required, he loved being on his back porch. He was always looking out for the "other person." The needs of others came before his own. He took great joy in helping other people. He was a man of integrity and honesty in all aspects of his life, especially in his business dealings. He had the respect of his peers in the business world who knew that his word was his bond! As a father, he was fair and compassionate.

Surviving are his wife, Kimberly Oster Weatherman, two sons, Grayson and Amber Weatherman of Eden, NC and Jacob Weatherman of the home; two grandchildren, Emerson and Rynlee Weatherman of Eden, NC; three brothers, Fred and Phyllis Weatherman of Independence, VA, Jerry Weatherman and special friend, Gloria Watson of Baywood, VA, David Weatherman and fiancé, Tonia Van Der Kamp of Galax; three sisters, Sue Love of Independence, VA, Carol and James Brooks of Hillsville, VA, and Kim and James Halsey of Cloverdale, VA: father and mother in-laws, Robert and Bonnie Oster of Marshville, NC; brother-in-law and spouse, Clinton and Amy Oster of Marshville, NC; several nieces and nephews also survive.
