Dr. Henry Jusdon Reed, Jr, age 79, of the Fox Creek Community of Grayson County went to live with the stars on September 27, 2023.  He was born on Jan. 14, 1944, in Miami, Florida to Henry Judson Reed Sr. and Ruthyn Thomas Reed.  Upon his father coming home from the war, the family moved to Corvalis, Oregon where he remained until he was nine years old.  The family then moved to San Diego, CA where he remained until he earned a PhD from Pomona College.  During his time at college, he became fraternity brothers with James Turrell, a famed American Artist.  Dr. Reed later taught at Atlantic University in Virginia Beach for over four decades.  He was always fond of A.R.E. (Association of Research and Enlightenment) Camp located in Cedar Springs, VA.  He loved working and learning with young people.  He was a life-long self-scholar.  He will best be remembered for "giving dreams back to the people " and taking them away from professional scrutiny.

He is survived by his wife, Janis Nobles Reed of the home; two brothers, Pastor Jim Reed of California and John Reed of Oregon; one chosen brother, the American artist, James Turrell of Arizona.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his blood brother, Dr. Robert van de Castle of Virginia.
