Iris Mary Blanchard Peeples, age 70, of Independence, VA passed away at her home on Feb. 15, 2025.  She was born in Houma Louisiana on August 13, 1954, to Vergis and Eunnice Liner Blanchard.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Bascom Peeples, one daughters, Johnni; two sisters, Juanita Authement and Vergie Lee Dutton; two brothers, Vergis "Jr." Blanchard and Raymond Blanchard.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, and friend. Iris was also known for her "expressive colorful language."  She never met a stranger and often opened her home to anybody who needed a place to go.  She loved her flowers, windchimes, and chocolate. She was a devoted John Wayne and George Strait fan.  She and her husband were often compared to Lucy and Ricky and the family rejoices in knowing that Lucy and Ricky are reunited.  In her spare time she loved to crochet.  She was totally devoted to her family-; she was a most dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Brandi and Eugene Widner of Independence, VA and Lona and Eric Hash of Independence; one son, Lance and Sunni Peeples of Independence, VA; 2 brothers, Cornelius and Martha Blanchard and Gerald Blanchard both of Louisiana.

All services will be private at the request of Iris.
