Jack Jason Ward age, 45 of Independence, VA passed away on Saturday March 23, 2024, at the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA.  He was born on July 19, 1978, in Wythe County, Virginia to Jackie Lee and Debra Wright Ward.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Ward, maternal grandparents, Richard and Ethel Wright, and beloved aunt, Penny Ward.

Jason was a graduate of Grayson County High School where he played football and was a member of the track team.  He will be remembered as a loving husband and dedicated son and a hard worker.  He was a loyal employee who has maintained employment with Volvo for the past ten years.  In addition to his work at Volvo, he along with his father operated a lawn mowing business.  Jason was a loyal friend to many people and his passing has left many broken hearts.  Any conversation with Jason always ended with "I love you."  Jason had enough love to share with everybody- especially to his loving wife, Brandi and their "fur-babies," Bailey and Thor.  Jason was also a favorite of his parents' dog, "Remie," his "fur-brother."  He was a UNC fan without compromise. Jason was a member of Fellowship Church in Elk Creek, VA.  On the rare occasion when he was not working, Jason could be found fishing or playing golf.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Brandi Ward of the home; his parents, Jackie and Debbie Ward of Elk Creek; his paternal grandfather, Jack Ward of Elk Creek; mother-in-law, JoAnn Cox of Fries, VA; uncle, Jimmy and Dorothy Wright of Independence, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Osborne and Rev. Jeremy Farley officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM.  Burial will follow in the Comers Rock Cemetery in Elk Creek.
