Jackson David
Collins
October 13, 1940 — July 2, 2025
Jackson David Collins, age 84, of Ivanhoe, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on July 2, 2025. A true mountain man with a gentle spirit, Jackson was known for his quiet ways, steady pace, and love for life's simple pleasures.
Jackson was never in a hurry and never one to waste words. He found his joy on the water with a fishing pole in hand or deep in the woods during hunting season. A devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt, he rarely missed a race and loved to cheer on "The Intimidator" with a cup of coffee close by.
He spent many hours building birdhouses and working with his hands, sharing those simple treasures with friends and family. Jackson was a faithful servant of the Lord and attended Fries Pentecostal Church for many years.
Jackson was also a skilled taxidermist, taking pride in preserving the beauty of God's creatures. But his greatest joy was his family. He dearly loved his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Wayne Collins, his grandson, Duayne Collins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Anita Collins of the home; three sons, Roger Collins and wife Brenda of Ivanhoe, VA, Mark Collins and wife Stephanie of Christiansburg, VA, and Robert Collins and wife Valerie of Fries, VA; one daughter, Sherry Jackson of Ivanhoe, VA; his brother, Leon Collins of Ivanhoe, VA.; his sister, Patricia and Reginald Blair of Ivanhoe, VA.
Mr. Collins legacy will continue through his cherished grandchildren: Kelsey Collins, Zachary Collins, Tiffany Houck, Thaxton Henley, Barrett Gallemore, and Macy Blair; his great-grandchildren; Riley, Hudson, Alizah, Lincoln, Laramie, Amanda, Tony, and Justin; one great-great granddaughter, Montana Blair.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Fries Pentecostal Church at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Ronald Gravely officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
