James Lee Anderson, age 55, of Independence, VA, passed away at his home on April 16, 2025.  He was born in Smyth County, Virginia to James Frank Anderson and Mary Elizabeth Stone Dunford. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Anderson and his sister, Barbara Dieffenbach.

James was a good friend to many who loved watching western movies.  He enjoyed a good joke and was always laughing about something!  He served his community by mowing lawns and helping in any way he could.  James enjoyed his profession as a dedicated truck driver for several years.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Stone Anderson Dunford of the home; 2 sisters, Tina and Marty Walls and Shirley Hackler all of Independence; three brothers, Bane and Peggy Anderson of Galax, VA, Danny and Carolyn Anderson of Independence, VA, and Dennis Anderson of the home.

At James' request all services will be private with burial to follow in the Grubb's Chapel Cemetery.
