JC Carico, age 65, of Independence, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on March 6, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. JC was born on August 15, 1960, in Grayson County to the late Joe Charles and Lasca Halsey Carico. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Anthony Carico; sister-in-law, Jean Day; brother-in-law, Ricky Bobbitt; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard and Pat Smith; and several aunts and uncles.

He was a very loving husband, father, brother, and friend to many. JC was known as a hard worker and had a heart of gold. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars and engines and just about anything that had a motor. He had a natural gift for fixing things and bringing an engine back to life. He treasured the time spent with his family and friends and he will be remembered for his quite kindness.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted and loving wife of 39 years, Carlene Carico; his son, Adam Carico and wife Cheyanne of Independence, VA; his sister, Brenda Crouse and husband John of Crumpler, NC; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eddie and Barbara Sutherland of Elk Creek, VA, Andrew and Katherine Poole of Independence, VA; Kermit and Debbie Smith; sister-in-law, Emma Bobbitt of Independence, VA; several nieces and nephews; and one special nephew, Randolph Poole of Independence, VA; dear friends, including Danny Hash, Emerson Halsey, and a very special friend, Angie Cheeks.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Gold Hill Baptist Church with Pastor David Trent officiating. Burial will follow in the Gold Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the church from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
