Jennie Karen
Blevins Bobbitt
May 28, 1955 — December 14, 2023
Jennie Karen Blevins Bobbitt, age 68, of Independence, VA severed all earthly bonds early Thursday afternoon at her home. She immediately was welcomed into a perfect paradise where a host of family and friends were eagerly waiting to greet her. The joy of this reunion will last throughout all eternity! Karen was born on May 28, 1955, in Sparta, NC to Gene Kenneth and Sally Ruth Atwood Blevins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Perry Bobbitt and her brother, Sonny Blevins.
Karen was all about family and reunions. She found great joy in providing for others. She was a born caregiver and used this passion to serve as foster parents along with her husband. She further displayed her love of children as a Sunday School Teacher at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a leader of the GA's. In her professional career, she was a dedicated teachers aid to special needs children in the public school system. It would be hard to calculate the value of her influence upon the countless lives of children that she inspired. She enjoyed the many "girls' trip to the beach" where many memories were made. Karen loved Christmas time! She enjoyed making Christmas Candy and sharing with everybody. She and Allen forged many friendships through their involvement in racing. She often called these friends her "racing family." Karen's passing has ended a five-year struggle with cancer. She faced this battle with courage and without complaint! While her family deeply regrets this loss, they are greatly comforted in knowing that she has heard the words, "enter in, thy good and faithful servant."
She is survived by her son, Jason Bobbitt of the home; her daughter, Jennifer and Chad Sutherland of Elk Creek, VA; son Tommy Miller of Independence, VA; three sisters, Patricia and Roy Overbay of Sparta, NC, Cindy and Kent Easter of Jonesville, NC, and Rita and Eric Miller of Sparta, NC; grandchildren, Mitchell, Olivia, Brantley, and Barrett; sister in law, Vickie and Charles Jones of Independence, VA; two brothers-in-law, Kenny and Darlene Bobbitt of Sparta, NC and Dennis and Phyllis Bobbitt of Independence, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive as well as many great- nieces and nephews.
