Jerry Wilson Cox, age 81, of Independence, died on January 11, 2021 at his home.  He was born on August 8, 1939 to Munsey F. and Dorothy Wooten Cox in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lynn Anderson of the home; three sons, Roger Cox of Raleigh, NC; Ronnie Cox, Danville, VA; Jerry W. Cox, Jr. of Nashville, TN; brothers, Bobby and Rebecca M. Cox  of Christiansburg, VA, William Gayle and Patricia A. Cox of New Orleans, LA, Troy and Cheryl T. Cox of Woodlawn, VA, David R. and Daphene Cox of Willis, TX, Dennis J. and Janie P. Cox of Mouth of Wilson, VA; sister, Ruth Joyce and Danny Carico of Mouth of Wilson, VA; brother-in-law, Larry D. and Pam Anderson of Greensboro, NC; his beloved cat, Sassy; several nieces and nephews also survive.

There will be no services.
