Jerry Lee Halsey, age 75, of Mechanicsville Virginia, passed away on Friday May 17, 2024, at Johnston – Willis Hospital, Midlothian Virginia.  Jerry was born on December 8, 1948, to Beal K. and Hazel Eller Halsey in Ashe County, North Carolina. Jerry grew up in the Mouth of Wilson Community of Grayson attending the Virginia Carolina High School. Following the tragic fire that destroyed the school in 1967, he completed his education at Independence High School in Independence, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Sammie Halsey and David Halsey.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Dawn Carr, (Doug) of Quinton, VA; son, J. Andrew Halsey, (Julie) of Mechanicsville, VA; Grandsons, Danny Lago (Heather Patterson) of Mechanicsville, VA, Tristan Halsey (Faith) of Henrico VA., Aden Halsey of Mechanicsville, VA;  great granddaughters, Scarlett Lago, Trinity Patterson, and Winter Kinn; extended family members include Brian Hughes; two sisters, Doris Ward, (Larry) of Elk Creek, VA, Kaye Spencer (Charlie) of Mouth of Wilson, VA,  Karen Howell of Piney Creek, NC: sisters in law, Irmgard Halsey of Kansas and Wilma Halsey of Independence, VA; in addition to several nieces and nephews, are several friends and acquaintances from the Richmond, VA area.

The family will receive friends at the home place, home of Kaye and Charlie Spencer, 2157 Grassy Creek Road Mouth of Wilson, VA 24363 from 5:00–7:00 on the evening of June 7, 2024.  Memorial services will be conducted on June 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Youngs Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Bonham and nephew, Rev. Zack Key officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
