Jessie Leigh Reedy Greer, age 95, of Troutdale, Virginia passed away at her home surrounded by her family.  Jessie was born in Grayson County, (the Grassy Creek Community) on June 15, 1930, to Ervin and Lora Reedy.  She attended Virginia Carolina High School in Grassy Creek where she participated on the girls' basketball team.  While a student at VC, she met her future husband, Gilmer Lester Greer. They were married June 17, 1949.  Jessie worked as an inspector in the furniture industry where she worked hard to provide for her family.  She enjoyed maintaining. a warm and comfortable home.  She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and canning.  While she had several hobbies and vocations that she enjoyed, nothing was more important than her children.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  Jessie was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord.  She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church where she faithfully attended several years.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde Reedy, Norman Reedy, Keith Reedy and Willis Albert Reedy; sisters, Violet Reedy Cooper, Fern Reedy Young, Ruby Reedy Spencer, and Nina Reedy Spencer.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dreama Sheets and Roy Brewer for their loving care and support shown to their mother during her illness.

She is survived by her son, Terry Greer of Galax, VA; two daughters, Janet Greer of Johnston City, TN and Pamela Greer and husband Roger Hearl of Bristol, VA; granddaughter, Erica Greer of Austinville, VA and one great-granddaughter, Challa Phillips of Austinville.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00 at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Boyette officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Blevins Cemetery on Rocky Hollow Road in Troutdale, VA.
