Jimmy William
Hall
August 15, 1947 — December 25, 2023
Rev. Jimmy William Hall, age 76, of Elk Creek, the Comer's Rock Community, left his earthly home to arrive at his heavenly home for Christmas on December 25, 2023. He was born on August 15, 1947, in Wythe County, Virginia to James and Nina Cornett Hall. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. He was married to Joyce Sutherland on December 20, 1967. He was called into the ministry as a young man and spent 30 years struggling with his calling. He surrendered to the Divine call 20 years ago and for the past 15 years, he was pastor of The Word Worship Center in Elk Creek. Rev. Hall was a much-loved pastor and mentor. His positive impact is not confined to his grave but continues to live on in the lives of those who were blessed by his ministry. He will be remembered for his direct honesty and was known as one who spoke his mind. He lived and preached a creed of simplicity, honesty, and integrity based upon Hebrews 3:13, his most often quoted scripture; "But exhort one another daily, while it is called to day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin." While he was totally devoted to calling, he was equally a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will also be remembered for his unusual love, devotion, and kindness to his in-laws, Ralph and Hildred Sutherland. He loved owning and operating the family farm which he did for 35 years. The Elk Creek and Comers Rock Communities were blessed with the presence of Rev. Hall. He will be missed greatly, yet his influence lives on!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, James Keith Hall.
Rev. Hall is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce S. Hall of the home; son, Kevin Hall of Elk Creek and his special friend, Linda, and her daughter, Kayelea; daughter, Jama and Jesse Hawkins of Elk Creek; brother, Nelwin Hall of Elk Creek; sister, Glenda Stone of Elk Creek, VA; 5 grandchildren, Lakin, Kaley, Cooper, Kadin and Jensen; two nieces and one nephew also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday morning, December 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Patrick Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in the Comers Rock Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
