Joanna D. Rutherford, age 78, of Independence, VA, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Rutherford

She was born January 22, 1939 at Elk Creek, Virginia to Harry C. Delp and Ruth Emaline James Delp.

Surviving, daughter and husband, Sherry and Michael Kelley of Fries, VA; grandson, Dawson Kelley of Fries, VA; four brothers and spouses, Roy and Carolyn Delp, Jessie and Juanita Delp and Charles and Carolyn Delp all of Elk Creek, VA, and Robby Delp and friend, Pat of Wytheville, VA; sister, Phyllis Riddle of Venice, FL, sister-in-law, Kate Moore of Mouth of Wilson, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 13 in Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, VA. Dwight Sells will officiate. Interment will follow in Independence Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home one-hour preceding the funeral service

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society

The family will be at the residence of Mrs. Rutherford after 9:00 A.M. Monday, where friends may call at anytime
