Joe X. Phipps, Jr, was born May 10, 1942, to the late Joe X. Phipps and Eva Lee Phipps.  He passed away at the Forsyth Medical Center on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.  He served in public education for 30 years as a Dean at Caldwell Community College.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; son, Joe X. Phipps III, brother, Michael (Nancy) several nieces and nephews as well as many special neighbors and friends also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Fox Cemetery.  Officiating will be Rev. Billy Flippin and Rev. Brian Walls. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home however, friends may call at the home at 1852 Maple Road Independence, VA on Saturday from 2:00-4:00.  The family respectfully request no food.  Flowers are appreciated or memorial contribution may be made to the Fox Cemetery 1852 Maple Road Independence, VA 24348.
