Obituary

John Wiley Green, age 92, of Galax, VA passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Twin County Hospital in Galax, VA.  He was born in Baywood, VA on Sep. 2, 1932, to Click Arthur and Lucy Cedella Galyean Green.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings; his wife, Nancy Lavinna Green; his daughter, Janet Seabolt; and one step great-granddaughter, Star Elisala-LeBlanc.

John was a simple man who found great joy in being outdoors.  He enjoyed working in his garden.  He was a fan of old-time mountain music.  He especially loved being with his family.  He was especially fond of baseball and as a baseball enthusiast, he claimed allegiance to Atlanta Braves, Nationals, and the Orioles.  He would often be found in his shop working on wood working projects.  He and Nancy loved to travel and were often found on the road on a new adventure.  John honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army.  He was retired from the Continental Can Company.

John is survived by his daughter, Judy and Joe LeBlanc of Sorrento, Florida; his son-in-law, John Seabolt of Ivanhoe, VA; two grandchildren, Lundy Seabolt and Tyler Seabolt; one great-granddaughter, Mariska Bowers; a host of extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Pastor Earnie Smith and Bro. Christopher Green officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Immediately following the funeral, graveside services with Military Rites, conducted by Grayson VFW Post #7726, will be held at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Independence, VA.
