Johnny Ray Brown, Sr, age 67, of Climax, NC passed away at the Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC on Saturday, June 10, 2023.  He was born on February 20, 1956, in Marion, VA to Ray Hughes and Bonnie Pickle Brown.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Joseph Thomas.

Johnny found great joy in mowing the lawns of his neighbors.  While his health permitted, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles.  He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather.  He loved having time with his grandchildren who were a great sense of pride for him.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Thomas Brown of the home; two sons, Johnny Ray Brown, Jr. (Rebekah) of Climax, NC and Joseph Hughes Brown (Kendra) of Ramseur, NC; mother-in-law, Shirley Thomas of Elk Creek; 7 grandchildren, Chloe, Lucas, Aria, Sawyer, Harper, Owen, Oliver, and "one on the way!"; and one brother, Stephen Brown (Mary) of Sugar Grove, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Comers Rock Baptist Church with the Pastor, Rev. Wilmer Shepherd and Rev. David Randolph Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in the Comers Rock Cemetery.
