Johnny Jay Edwards, age 72, of Independence, Virginia, died on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC.  He was born on April 5, 1948 in Independence, Virginia to John Edwards who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Anona Edwards of the home; brother, Sam Edwards of Atkins, Virginia; two sisters Katie Edwards of Galax, Virginia and Sherry Davis of Georgia; three half-sisters, Ruth, Doris and Nell; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Billy Walker of Ohio; three step-daughters, Sydney Emerson, Allie Thornton, and Katie Hash all of Independence, Virginia.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Boyer Cemetery in Independence, Virginia by Rev.  Tom Burcham.  Military Rites will be conducted by Grayson County VFW POST 37726.
