Joye Alice Wright Harrington, age 90, of Elk Creek, Virginia died at her home with her family at her side Friday morning,  August 31, 2022.  She was born on October 31, 1931, in Max Meadows, Virginia to George Carl and Sally Matilda Taylor Wright.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Legard Harrington.

She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, choir director, and any other position that needed filling.  She retired after 30 years of dedicated service to Grayson County Social Services.  Throughout her life she loved gardening, especially flower gardening, and birds!

She is survived by her daughter, Dana Harrington of Cody, Wyoming; granddaughter, Mary Alice and Adam Cheek of Siler City, NC; great-granddaughter, Harper Kay Cheek of Siler City; brother-in-law, Curtis and Nancy Harrington of Independence, Virginia; special cousin and caregiver, Dawn and Mark Rhudy of Elk Creek, Virginia.  Private memorial services will be conducted at a later date.

Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, Virginia is serving the Harrington family.
