Judy Lee
Brown Arduin
April 24, 1945 — August 27, 2023
Judy Lee Brown Arduin, age 78, of Independence, Virginia passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. She was born on April 24, 1945, in Grayson County to James and Nancy Thomas Brown.
Judy was the owner and operator of Ogles Restaurant in Independence. Her outgoing personality, sense of humor, and zest for life coupled with a huge heart make her a favorite citizen of Independence and an ideal restaurant manager. She knew no stranger and was always ready to offer help. In addition to roses, butterflies and frogs, she was known for her stockpile of supplies and goods which she loved to distribute to anybody who displayed a need. While she extended her hand to anybody and everybody, at the end of the day, she was all about her "two boys, Ronnie and Nicky." They were the light of her life! In recent months, she learned to communicate with her family with her smartphone. She always ended every conversation with "I love you." It was sometimes received in a different language; but was always welcomed with the same love as it was sent! Judy's death has left a great void, but she will be remembered and her memory cherished.
She is survived by her "two boys," Ron and Wendy Brown of Independence, VA and Nick and Trina May Arduin of Hillsville, VA; sister, Jean and Loren Wager of Independence, VA; brother, Ralph and Brenda Brown of Elk Creek, VA; half-sisters, Bonnie and Mark Elliott of Elk Creek, VA, Geneva and Donald Parsons of Elk Creek, VA, Shirley and Gary Phipps of Independence, VA; half- brother, Jeff and Reba Brown of Independence; one granddaughter, Kamrin Arduin of Independence, VA; one grandson, Devan Brown of Charlotte, NC: two special friends, Park Olson of Independence, VA and Christina Hash of Independence, VA; one special niece and caregiver, Melissa Bourne; several other nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, at 4:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Pickett officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Private burial will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery in Elk Creek, VA.
