Judy Lynette Parsons, age 67, of Independence, Virginia died on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN.  She was born on April 24, 1955, in Jefferson, NC to Wallace Kent and Nancy Phipps Parsons.  She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rianon Lynette Parsons Hickman; her brother, Joseph Kent Parsons; her maternal grandparents, Troy Phipps and Ethel Phipps Farmer; her paternal grandparents, French and Mattie Wagg Parsons.

Judy lived a life dedicated to the service of others. She was a certified Dental Hygienist for a short period of time until she discovered the nursing profession.  While in nursing school she worked in accounting and data processing and served also as a nursing secretary as well as the ER and ICU Secretary.  Once she completed her RN Degree at Wytheville Community College, she served Twin County Community Hospital for many years.  Armed with her adoring personality and her love of the nursing profession, she was a much-loved nurse by her patients as well as her peers.  Once she left her position at Twin County Hospital, she joined the nursing staff at Grayson Nursing and Rehab center, where continued to minister to her patients with love and compassion.  In her retirement, she fulfilled her desire to serve people in a position at Wal-Mart where her "part-time Christmas employment" continued until her death.  Judy lived a life that made a difference in the world.  Her love of her profession, her family, and especially her only grandchild will not be confined to the grave, but will  continue to live in the hearts of all that knew her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ladecca McAllister of Radford, VA and Raquel Hickman (Anthony) of Independence; her parents, Wallace and Nancy Parsons of Independence; grandson, Ivan Hickman of Independence; several cousins also survive.

Services to honor her life will be conducted on Wednesday, September 7, at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Dave Parsons officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
