Judy Ann Swinney Davis, age 72, of Independence, Virginia, Carsonville Community, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA.  She was born on November 11, 1950, in Galax, Virginia to William Ray and Gladys Marie Cox Swinney.

Judy will be remembered as the owner and manager of Golden Threads, a dress shop in Galax, Virginia.  She was a talented seamstress who taught sewing classes and was celebrated for her alterations and custom work.  She was a dedicated mother and loving grandmother.  She loved sports and was a very dedicated fan of all of Grayson County Sports programs.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen and Jerry Phillips of the Carsonville Community; two grandsons, Jarred Phillips of the Carsonville Community and Seth and Kayla Phillips of Wytheville, VA; one brother, Thurman and Linda Swinney of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Connie Swinney of Galax, VA; two nieces and one nephew also survive.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Swinney and Jackie Swinney.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chuck Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral from1:00-2:00 at the funeral home.
