Junior Lane Coe, age 72, of the Whitetop Community passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson, NC.  He was born on July 6, 1951, in Grayson County to Wilburn Wade and Rassie Ellen Blevins Coe.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Coe, brothers, Randy, Roger, Wade and Tommy Coe, and sister, Betty Emerson and a granddaughter Alana.

Junior enjoyed being outdoors and working in Christmas trees.  When not working, he enjoyed hanging at the local store being with his friends.  Junior will be remembered as a most helpful and caring man. His door was always open to anyone. But, most of all, Junior was about his family.  He was a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He was always eager to talk about his family and was always overjoyed to welcome his family to his home.  When he heard, "I love you" he was quick to respond with,"I love you too, honey."

Junior is survived by two daughters, Lisa and Allen Fountain of Martinsburg, WV and Pamela and Chris Pagans of Hardy, VA; one son, Greg and Melissa Coe of Lebanon, VA; two sisters, Minnie Huffman of Whitetop, VA and Eula Mae and Arvil Osborne of Harmony, NC; two brothers, Benny and Patsy Coe of West Jefferson, NC and Gene and Debbie Coe of Lansing, NC; the mother of his children, Rita Osborne of Roanoke, VA; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Amethyst, Ashley, Daniel, Madison, Gracelynn, Amaryllis and C.J; 7 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Buddy Emerson of Whitetop, VA; and a special friend, Danny Shaw of Whitetop, VA.

The family will honor Junior wishes for a graveside service at the Coe Cemetery in Whitetop on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Chris Goodman officiating.
