Kenneth Michael Akers, age 66 of Fancy Gap, Virginia passed away on Wednesday evening, August 28, 2024, at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.  He was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 5, 1958, to Carl Raymond and Rosa Lee Catron Akers.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Randall Akers.  Kenneth enjoyed bowling, drag racing, car shows.  He was blessed with a great talent for engine work and was capable of "fixing anything." He had a special affinity for his cat, Lucy, which was gifted to him from his brother, Tony.  While Kenneth has several interest and hobbies his greatest joy was being with his family.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 36 years, Lori Ann Hall Akers of the home; one son, Christopher Stephen Akers of the home and his fiancée, Anna Marie Price of Christiansburg; one daughter, Jennifer and Chris Padgett of Galax, VA; three grandchildren, Andrew Brady, Allison Johnson and Jacob Padgett.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mary Hessler officiating. Private graveside service and burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Independence, VA.  The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
