Kenneth David Parks, age 52, of Galax, Virginia passed away on July 30, 2023, at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.  Kenneth was born on April 10, 1971, in Galax, Virginia to David Gene and Jo Ann Burris Parks.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Kenneth was a loving husband and father who will be remembered as very giving and generous.  Kenneth was a truck driver who took much pride in his work.  He was talented in operating any off-road equipment.  A 1968 Camaro and a 1968 Ford F-150 were his favorite vehicles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and listening to country music.

He is survived by his spouse, Emerald W. Parks of the home; one daughter of the home, Codi Parks and fiancé, Jeremy Sargent; one son of Fairview, VA, Allen Parks and fiancée, Ambie Lakin; mother, Jo Ann Burris Mabe of Haysi, VA; three grandchildren, Brayden, Thomas and Sebastain; one sister, Lesa Compton of Haysi; two brothers, Douglas and Patty Thomas of Wytheville, VA and William and Bo Thomas of Fries, VA; step-mother, Ann Parks of Elk Creek, VA;  sisters-in-law, Starr and Timothy Anderson of Independence, VA and Desiree and Benjamin Thornton of Hebron, VA; one aunt, Gearlene Barry of Mt. City, TN; nieces and nephews, Rene Thomas and Brittany Thomas, Sara Presnell, Libby Presnell, Leah Thornton and Cyrus Thornton, J.C. Compton and Christopher Compton also survive.

The family will receive friends at a gathering on Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA. There will be no funeral service.
