Kenneth Maynard Sells

Kenneth Maynard Sells passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2026, after a long, hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born April 13, 1940. Known as Maynard to his family and Jimmy to friends and coworkers, he spent more than 50 years as a land surveyor with a talent for resolving disputes. His chosen career allowed him to work in his favorite environment—nature. Maynard enjoyed joking with and pranking friends and family. He shared his love of the outdoors and music of all types with his children, with his favorite being country storytelling songs. He loved opening day of hunting and fishing, and baseball. He was always ready to “go” until he could not. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Dewey Sells and Georgie Wells Sells, and his brother, Billy Con Sells.

Left to keep and share his memories are his wife, Kay; son, Dale; daughters, Patty and Kim; son-in-law and hunting partner, Mike Newman; grandson, Ben Brewer, and wife, Julie; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey, along with his sister: Frances Carol Weaver and Kenneth; brothers, Dennis Marvin Sells and Shirley; Donald Lee Sells and Irene; special niece and nephew, Caroline Sells West and Sonny Lee Sells; special cousin and lifelong friend, Jack Wells.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at Little Wilson Community Church Cemetery at 11:00 AM with pastor Mike Newman officiating. The family welcomes all to the service and celebration of life.

Anyone wishing to honor his memory can do so by making donations to your local hospice service.
