Obituary

In His all-knowing and wise providence, the Creator of Heaven and earth has extended His hand of mercy and welcomed into the Heavenly Kingdom, one of His own redeeming, Kenneth Frank Simpson.  Kenneth was born to Benjamin Frank and Cathryn Phipps Simpson on May 19, 1964, in Roanoke, Virginia and departed this life on March 26, 2022, at Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC making his stay here 57 years, 10 months and 8 days.

Kenneth was such a special person whose death has left such a great void. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man who nurtured and maintained a special bond with each of his family members.  He had a certain time each day he called to check in on his much-loved stepmother, his adoring sisters, and his beloved Diane.  Having no children of his own, he was a favorite uncle among his nieces and nephews whom he loved giving a "forehead rub."

He was a car enthusiast who from a very early age could name the make, model, and year of each car that passed by!  His passion for cars was rivaled only with his love of good food with fried chicken and hamburgers as favorites!  He was always ready to enjoy a good laugh and found great joy in passing compliments to people.  He was a great conversationalist who could talk to anybody.  He was a friend and brother to all and deeply touched the lives of all whom he met. Many found Kenneth to be a true-hearted and trustworthy friend in whom they could easily confide knowing that he could keep a secret.

In September 2020, Kenneth was baptized by Rev. Daryl Beamer and joined the fellowship of Bethany Baptist Church in Woodlawn, Virginia.  While broken-hearted, his family is comforted in knowing their loss is Heaven's gain.

Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, C. Diane Bryan of Sparta, NC; his step-mother, Mary Simpson Martin and husband, Marcellous of Independence, Virginia; five sisters, Elaine Hatcher of Sparta, NC, Nancy Jo and James Victor Tucker of Sparta, NC, Peggy S. Thompson of Independence, VA, Renita and Wayne Garner of Roanoke, VA, and Desmine and Joedy Young of Huntersville, NC; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends also survive.

Home going services to honor the life of Kenneth will be conducted on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, Virginia.  Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Daryl Beamer, Elder Daryl B. Florance, Rev. Chauncey Robinson, and Bishop William Scott.  The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service at the funeral home. The family respectfully requests that masks be worn.
