Kenneth Carl "Snook" Wood, age 82, of Mouth of Wilson, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

Mr. Wood was born November 24, 1943, in Grayson County, VA, to the late Lacy and Georgie McGrady Wood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother -in-law and father-law, two brothers, and one sister.

Kenneth loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and spending time in nature. He had a special talent for working on guns and was known to many as a skilled gunsmith. He was also proud to be one of the founding members of the Dixie Youth Baseball program. Kenneth was a true "good ole mountain man," who believed in working hard and being kind.

Above all, Kenneth loved his family. He treasured time spent with them and was especially known for spoiling his great-granddaughter.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Judi Young Wood of the home; one daughter, Denise Wood and Donald, of Raleigh, NC; one son, Landon Wood and Sarah, of Mouth of Wilson, VA; his grandchildren, Nikea and Brian Cornett of Ashe County, NC, Tyler Perkins of Radford, VA, A.J. and Stella Wood of Camp Lejeune, NC, and Lance Musick; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Dawson, Brayden and Luke; one brother, James "Bus" Wood; sisters, Mary Billings and Nona Richardson; several nieces and nephews; special brother-in-law, Steve and Terri Young and Stephanie and Eric.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, 6:00 PM at Reins~Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Lewis Young officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 until 6:00 PM.
