Mr. Kyle Ronald Graybeal, age 83, passed away at Desirable Living Care Home in Montrose, VA, on February 17, 2026.  He was preceded in death by his parents Kyle Vernon Graybeal and Alice Tuggle Graybeal, and his brother, Larry Graybeal.  He is survived by his wife Pamela Signor Graybeal of Stafford, VA; his daughters Jennifer Graybeal of Pinecrest, FL, Sarah Graybeal of Miami, FL, and Rebecca Murdock of Stafford, VA; and his grandchildren Rachel Reifenberg of Carmel, Indiana, Tyson Reifenberg of Miami, FL, and Jay Murdock of Stafford, VA

Kyle Ronald Graybeal was born in Portsmouth, VA. However, he had close ties with the Appalachian Mountains and Grayson County.  His mother came from Bluefield, West Virginia and his father from Grassy Creek, North Carolina.  Kyle, known as Ronnie by close family members, spent time every summer in both places.  In Grayson, he got a first-hand look at farming at his grandparent's (Arthur and Ida Thompson Graybeal) home.  His cousins Bill and Bob Graybeal lived down the road and there are fun tales of mischief by Bob, Kyle and other cousins such as secretly sampling Grandma Graybeal's liquid cure-all medicine found high in a cupboard.

Kyle started his working career in the shipyards in Eastern Virginia as an electronics mechanic.  Later he switched to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) working in software.  He spent the rest of his career with the FAA.

Kyle loved music and played the double bass.  He played classical and show music his whole life.  Any chance to play, for money or free, he was ready.  In fact, he met his second wife, Pamela, at a rehearsal.  The resulting marriage lasted almost 46 years before he passed.

Kyle had many interests but one took over his time for years: Genealogy.  Alone and together with his wife, he went to many libraries, genealogy rooms, and followed rugged country roads and paths to old cemeteries, especially in Grayson and surrounding counties.

For the last 12 plus years, Kyle has been on the Alzheimer's Disease journey. Despite the fears and confusion the disease brought to him, Kyle remained kind and loving with his dry sense of humor still peeking through occasionally.  He was able to remain at home until the last month of his life.  He will be sorely missed by his family.
