Laneraka Tamara Gibson, age 33, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Schands University of Florida Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.  She was born on November. 14, 1989, to Duncan and Lucinda Phipps Brown.  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Crockett Phipps, Jr. and Ella R. Phipps, and paternal grandfather, Russ L. Brown.

Laneraka was a very lovable person with a big laugh, big smile, and a big spirit.  She will be greatly missed by everybody who knew her, especially her parents.  She loved all children and all children loved her.  Unable to pronounce her name, children called her "America." She was a hard worker who loved to cook.  She especially enjoyed family gatherings.  She was a servant of the Lord and carried God's Holy word in her heart. She was active in her church youth group.

She is survived by her parents, Duncan and Lucinda Brown and her sister, Taneshia Brown of Alto, GA, paternal grandmother, Stella Brown of Galax, VA. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.  Officiating at the service will be Bishop Burgie Penn, Bishop Charles Milliner, and Pastor Scott Smith.  Burial will follow at the White Plains Cemetery in Sparta, NC.
