Anderson
January 18, 1946 — July 7, 2025
Larry Curtis Anderson, age 79, formerly of Fries, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home in Johnson City, TN on Monday July 7, 2025. Larry was born in Fries, Virginia on Jan. 18, 1946, to Curtis and Edith Ring Anderson. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Arlene Blevins and a brother, Bobby Anderson.
Larry attended Providence Elementary and Fries High School prior to working at the Fries Cotton Mill. He joined the United States Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. After 28 years of faithful service to the Army, he retired and began working for the Unites States Forestry Department serving as grounds supervisor. After moving to Tennessee in 2004, he assumed the position of grounds manager at Mt. Home Veteran Center in Johnson City, TN where he worked as long as his health permitted. Even in the final weeks of his life, Larry enjoyed mowing his yard and maintaining his lawn. He was a dedicated New Orleans Saints fan. He often reflected upon his mama's cooking and his happy childhood. As the older brother, he was often viewed as the hero of the family. A visit home created as much excitement as Christmas Morning. He was always concerned about his younger sisters and was quick to correct them. His love for his country as well as his family was unwavering. He was a devoted parent who did everything he could do for his children. He loved all children who enhanced his life, his children, sisters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. The family is greatly comforted knowing that Larry has gained his heavenly home and is reunited with all of his loved ones.
