Larry Wallace Paisley, age 93, of Mouth of Wilson, VA passed away at his beloved home surrounded by his loving family on the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 28, 2025. He was born in Mouth of Wilson, VA on September 8, 1931, to William Mastin and Laura Frances Carner Paisley. Following high school graduation, Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force where he faithfully served for the next four years in Fort Worth, TX. Following his enlistment, he attended VA Tech where he studied to become a draftsman taking a position at Western Electric. He was married to Alma Louise Brown on March 10, 1956. They spent several years in the Winston-Salem area, where they attended and were active members of Old Town Baptist Church. Throughout these years, he always maintained a connection to the homeplace in Mouth of Wilson. Following retirement, he was able to obtain the family farm where he dedicated much of his time to the remodeling of his childhood home. He enjoyed camping expeditions and boating excursions. He will be remembered as a dedicated and loyal Carolina Tar Heel fan. During recent years he enjoyed working on the homeplace. He enjoyed attending Volney Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. There was no greater joy to Larry than spending time with his family. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He lived a creed of honesty, simplicity, and integrity and his passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his eleven siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Louise Brown Paisley of the home; one son, Gregory and Sandra Paisley of Winston-Salem, NC; one daughter, Gwendolyn and David Brown of Advance, NC; grandchildren, Michelle and Brock Randell of Winston-Salem, NC, Matthew Jenkins Paisley of Mouth of Wilson, Patrick and Maggie Schweighart of PA, Elizabeth Schweighart of NC; Jennifer and Barry Bredvik of CA, Ashley and Chris Litteral of NC, Michael and Hayley Brown of NC; great-granddaughter, Paisley Laine Randell and eleven other great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday February 1, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Halsey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Piney Creek Methodist Cemetery in Piney Creek, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Creek Cemetery C/O Sarah McMillan 1297 Garvey Rd. Piney Creek, NC 28663.
