Leah Evans Newman Honeycutt, age 94 of Galax, VA passed away March 22, 2025, at Galax Health and Rehab Center. She was born May 6, 1930, in Monterey, VA to the late Sheldon and Lillie Smothers Newman. In addition to her parents, she  was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Honeycutt.

Mrs. Honeycutt is survived by her son and daughter in law, Mike and Brenda Honeycutt of Independence, VA; two grandsons, Joe and Cayla Honeycutt of Boone, NC and Ben Honeycutt of Raleigh, NC; three great-granddaughters; Jaiden, Bryce and Hannah.

Leah was the last of 12 children. She had a deep love for history and an incredible memory. She also made sure to put on her lipstick every morning. She was a member of the Galax Presbyterian Church, and a proud graduate of Woodlawn High School.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 2:00 at the Monta Vista Cemetery in Galax, VA with David VanHoy speaking.
