Linda Ruth Poole, age 76, of Galax, Virginia passed away at the LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.  Linda was born on November 12, 1947, to Ralph and Ruth Morton Poole.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joel Lance Poole.

Linda began her professional career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, NC.  In later years, she assumed a position as an executive secretary at Nissan of Murfreesboro, TN where she remained until her retirement.  In her retirement years she was able to devote time to her hobby of painting.  She was recognized as a very talented artist specializing in portrait and landscape work.  In recent years, she purchased a motorhome and enjoyed traveling across the country. While her travel adventures included everything from Niagara Falls to riding the railroads along the Canadian Rockies, she most enjoyed spending her winter months in Anna Maria Island in Florida.  On these exotic journeys  she was accompanied by her "sister by choice," Brenda Crouse Green and her much loved Pomeranian fur baby, Lillie, the light of her life!  While she did not have a large extended family of her own, she adopted many friends into her circle of love.  She lived a full and rewarding life and will be remembered as a devoted and loyal friend whose presence will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her "sister of choice", Brenda Green of Galax, VA; her "bonus kids," John and Tracy Devonshire of Galax; five cousins, Dana White of Hillsville, VA, Susan Delp of Elk Creek, VA, Mary Ann Jacobs of Galax, Alan Poole of Galax, and Nick Wright; two close friends, Janet Phipps of Galax, Claudia Isley of Greensboro, NC and Shirley Grubb.

A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be conducted on June 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Fleming officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM prior to the service.
