Lou Jean Brown Wager age, 75 of Independence, VA passed away at her home on October 27, 2023.  She was born in the Elk Creek Community of Grayson County on September 7, 1948, to James and Nancy Lou Thomas Brown who preceded Lou Jean in death.  She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She found her greatest joy in being with her family.  She was a remarkable grandmother and great grandmother.  She loved flowers and especially loved being outdoors in the sunshine.  Her presence was of great value to her family, and she will be missed beyond expression.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lauren Wager of the home; her daughter, Melissa Bourne of Independence, VA; two brothers, Ralph and Brenda Brown of Elk Creek, VA and Jeff and Reba Brown of Independence; three sisters, Geneva and Donald Parsons of Elk Creek, VA, Bonnie and Mark Elliott of Elk Creek, Shirley and Gary Phipps of Independence; step-mother, Lura Brown of Elk Creek; 2 grandchildren, Brandon Arnold and fiancée, Lynsay Hannah and Ashley Arnold and fiancé, Kevin Cornett; great-grandchildren, Payton, Emmie, Trey, Ace, Charlie, Bryson, and Shelby; several nieces and nephews also survive including two nephews, Ron Brown and Nick Arduin.

While there will be no formal funeral or visitation for Lou Jean, the family invites the public to visit the funeral home on Wednesday evening, November 1, 2023, from 5:00-6:00 evening to come to the chapel and sit quietly and privately reflect upon the life of Lou Jean.  A private burial will follow at a later date at the Lebanon Cemetery in Elk Creek.
