Maiden Gerald Anderson, age 76, of the Grant Community of Grayson County, VA passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Waddell Nursing Home in Galax, Virginia.  Gerald was born on September 24, 1947, in Smyth County, Virginia to Maiden French and Emma Fay Anderson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ricky Anderson.

Gerald was a dedicated worker with the Virginia Department of Transportation as a heavy machine operator.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the US Army. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and found enjoyment in playing golf.  He will be remembered as having a big heart and always willing to help anybody in need.  He loved being a grandfather and found his greatest joy in being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathy S. Anderson of the home; one son David and Sheila Anderson of Mouth of Wilson, VA; three grandchildren, Tyler Payne, Ashli Anderson, and Emma Anderson; one brother Jack and Debbie Anderson of Flat Ridge, VA; brother-in-law, Bud and Wava Osborne of Meadowview, VA; niece, Whitney Anderson of Marion, VA; and one nephew, Travis Anderson of Elk Creek,VA.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at 2:00 at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Halsey and Rev. Tim Boyette officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Baptist Union Cemetery in Troutdale, VA with military rites conducted by the Grayson County VFW Post #7726 and the United States Army.
