Margarette McMillian Valentine was born July 25, 1917 in Bridle Creek, Virginia, making her stay on earth 101 years and nine months and eight days.  On April 30, 2019 the angel came and picked the beautiful bouquet of flowers from the garden saying, "I've got your ticket to your eternal heavenly home."  She was the daughter of Sally Phipps and Greek McMillan who preceded her in death along with her husband, Clarence Valentine, to whom she was married for over fifty years.  To this union was born four children, three boys and one girl.  She is survived by her children, Oscar Valentine of Independence, Virginia, Aranna Boysaw of Bridle Creek, Virginia, Frank and Estrianna Valentine of Galax, Virginia, and Bill and Ann Valentine of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She was preceded in death by four Brothers, five sister, and one great grandson, Phillip Isaac Brown.

She spent her life working for her family.  In addition to being a cosmetic sales person and a seamstress, she was also employed by the Grayson County School System for seventeen years.  She joined the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in her early years and faithfully served the church as secretary and treasurer.  She gladly served her church, her community, and her family doing anything she could. She will be well remembered for her cooking ability and is celebrated as one of the best cooks in Grayson County.

She was a great-awesome-beautiful person; wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.  She was never afraid to tell anybody how good God is!  She had a genuine concern about everyone's soul, making sure each person she met was ready to meet Jesus. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Oscar, Aranna, Frank and Astrianna, and Bill and her sister Evona Lewis of Floyd, Virginia, her eight grandchildren: Michael, Evelyn, Lisa, Bill, Jr., Dan, Jermaine, Marques, and David; seven great-grandchildren: Philisha, Chuck, Markel, Rachael, Fred, Tyrell, Tavian, Maleke, and four great -great grandchildren: Jordon, Tyson, Gary Jr., and Lachelle.  Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Home Going Services will be conducted on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 2:00 in the afternoon at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence, Virginia.  Officiating will be the Elder Dayle Mckinney, Pastor Sue Greene, Rev. April Hall and other attending ministers.  The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon prior to the service beginning at 12:30 until the hour of service.  Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bridle Creek, Virginia.
