Mary Rosetta Holdaway Smith age, 82, of Galax, VA passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Galax Health and Rehab Center in Galax, VA.  She was born on December 29, 1942, in Virginia to Bryan and Lara Brewer Holdaway.  She was a loving mother and good provider for her children.  She was especially fond of cats and enjoyed the companionship of her "big yellow cat," Tiger.  She enjoyed traveling and enjoyed many excursions with Sunshine Tours.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Darin Hudson and Douglas Bryan Hudson, and one grandson, Michael Anthony Hudson, infant brother, Clarence Glenn Holdaway and one sister, Elsie Faye Holdaway.

She is survived by one daughter, Santra Diane Wilson of Greensboro, NC; 3 sons, Joseph Randall Hudson of Hillsville, VA, Kenneth Wayne Hudson of Galax, VA, and Charles Grant Hudson of Maryland; one sister, Karen Caparolie of West Jefferson, NC; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter, one niece and one nephew also survives.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Peak officiating.  The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home.  Private burial will follow in the Grubbs Chapel Cemetery in the Bridle Creek Community of Independence, VA.
