Obituary

Mattie Lee Hall, age, 95, of Independence, VA passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, at the home of her daughter, Mandy Carr in Independence.  She was born in Sparta, NC on May 19, 1927, to Disa and Jay Sanders.  She graduated from Sparta High School in 1945.

She married Wayne Hall on September 30, 1947.  They made their home in Independence where they became life-long residents and raised their five children.  After their children started school, she went to work at Grayson Garment and continued working until her retirement.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  She will be remembered for her sweet loving and gentle demeanor.  Her smile was infectious, and her presence brought joy to all around her.  She was well known for her love for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Anytime there were holidays, birthdays, or any excuse for family gatherings, you could expect to find the dining room table full of food and the house full of all her family.  She always looked forward to attending the Poole Family Reunion each year.

She was an avid Duke Blue Devil fan!  You better believe anytime Duke was playing basketball, you could find her in her recliner, decked out in all her Duke apparel, rooting them on. GO DUKE!!!!!
