Mayra Ortega Diaz, born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Mayra was born on September 20, 1956 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Maria Mercedes Diaz and Victor Ortega. Mayra built a life filled with love. She graduated from Purdue University and was a professional yoga teacher and instructor throughout her life.

Mayra built her life in independence, Virginia, after hurricane Maria in 2017. The Lord blessed her with a multitude of special friends as she remained in Independence for the duration of her life.

She is survived by her sister, Maria Isabel (Jorge), brother Gerardo, special niece Mara, her extended family Scott and Laura Wright, Russell and Vanessa Hollifield, special nephews Kingston, Highland, Sterling, and Kullen Hollifield.

Private services will be conducted at a later date with inurnment in the Independence Cemetery.
