Nancy Carol Cornett Gaultney, age 65, of Roaring River, North Carolina passed away at her home on the early morning hours of August 8, 2025, surrounded by her family.  Nancy was born on September 6, 1959, in Independence, Virginia to Prince and Nellie Hamrick Cornett.  When Nancy was six months old, her mother died from a tragic car accident.  Nancy's aunt, Mattie Bobbitt, welcomed the infant into her home and reared her as her own.  Nancy lived an eventful life and found great satisfaction by bringing joy to others.  She was an avid fan of many genres of music with her taste spanning from rock and roll to gospel.  She will be remembered as one who was quick to speak her mind and was one of strong opinions. Yet, she was full of fun and was always ready to hit the dance floor.  Her warm personality resulted in a huge circle of friends.  She was loved by many.  She enjoyed welcoming people into her home where there were no strangers.  Among her greatest joys was providing for her family.  She loved to cook and feed her family as well as anybody who would sit at her table. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.  Her life has left a lasting legacy.

In addition to her birth and adoptive parents, she was preceded in death by several of her siblings and a very special aunt, Mozelle Tilley.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Gaultney of the home; one daughter, Crystal Gaultney of State Road, NC; son, Shane and Brandi Gaultney of Thurmond, NC; brother, J.B. and Barbara Cornett of Statesville, NC; brother, Jason Bobbitt of Independence, VA; grandchildren, Christopher and Leah, Destiny and Austin, and Kayla and Anthony; a host of extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Ricky Walker officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Independence, Virginia.
