Nancy Lynn Chatman Earnest, 72, of Independence, VA, died Thursday, March 17, 2022. She was born in Roanoke, VA, to the late Roy and Mary Chatman. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Nadine Brown.

Survivors include her son, Gene McFadden of Fort Mill, SC; daughters, Karen Woods of Abingdon, Noel Byrd of Blacksburg, and Amanda Earnest of Narrows; nephew, Rob Reece of Irving, TX; eight grandchildren, Harley McFadden, Devon Woods, Bailey Woods, Caleb Woods, Rowan Woods, Cullen Woods, Malcolm McFadden, and Bryson Jones; one great grandchild, Arbor Woods; and several cousins also survive.

A memorial service will be held at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA, on Monday, March 21, 2022, 11AM-12PM, with Rev. Gleasanna Dixon officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a humane society or animal shelter of choice.
