Nancy Ruth Rhudy Edwards, age 86, of Elk Creek, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on September 21, 2024. She was born on June 13, 1938, to the late Ed and Edith Funk Rudy. In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband, Willard C. Edwards; her son, Ricky Edwards; and her brother, Ted Rudy.

In 1958, she married the love of her life, Willard C. Edwards, and together they built a home filled with love and warmth. Class and elegance defined Nancy, and much like still waters that run deep, her calm demeanor concealed a strong, unwavering character. She was a true southern lady, loved by all who knew her.

Nancy had a deep love for children and took great pride in helping raise many of the little ones in Elk Creek Valley. Her nurturing presence and gentle heart touched the lives of countless families in the community, earning her a special place in the hearts of those she cared for. Nancy also spent ten years working at the county courthouse in the Registrar's office.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Nicki Lynn Tilson and husband Jessie of Independence, VA; her daughter-in-law, Janet Edwards of Elk Creek, VA; one great-grandson, Jagger Tilson of Independence, VA; and her sister, Kathleen Hackler of Elk Creek, VA; also, her special friend, Rosie Jones.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Forest Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Johnson and Pastor Homer Murdock officiating.
