Obituary

Nima Lonergan Crotwell died suddenly on May 1st, 2025. She was born on August 30, 1943, in Pell City, Alabama. She was the daughter of parents Martha Smith Lonergan (1920-2010) and Glynn Dowling Lonergan (1923-2010) and beloved  sister of Glenn Dee Lonergan (1947-1990) and John Kent Lonergan and wife Kay Lonergan.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Melissa Len Crotwell (1963-1975). She is survived
by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia C and Rick Taylor; the child of her heart, Crista V
Lonergan and husband Dustin Cable; dear family friend Karen Bopp; and many relatives, loved
ones, friends, and pets.

Nima attended Auburn University, where she studied math, before leaving to marry and start a
family. Her later career in Marine Insurance spanned over 30 years with MOAC, CNA, and finally
RLI. She retired to the mountains of Virginia in 2013 to be near her daughter. She loved books
and travel, spending part of each year traveling with her daughter and son-in-law.

She was a beautiful, kind, generous, and compassionate person. She was fiercely independent
and private. She loved her family and friends dearly, despite their quirks and disfunction. She
worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, forgave them, and always kept on loving
them. She will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service is being planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to God's Storehouse Soup Kitchen. A nonprofit organization with a mission to help those in need including the homeless, children in foster care,
low-income families, those suffering trauma or addictions and many more. They have been providing the
Galax community with free hot meals since 2014, and also offer "Celebrate Recovery," a Christ centered
recovery program in which God ministers to those with hurts, habits or hang ups.
