CARLTON, Norma B. Carlton, 92, of Sandston, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, siblings, and a grandson.

She is survived by her four children, Brenda and husband, Tim Smith; Don Carlton; Jamie and husband, Brian Garthright; and Julie Barnett; five grandchildren, Branden, Tyler, Rebecca, Maggie, and Jacob; great-grandchildren; and many cherished family members and friends.

Norma was a devoted and lifelong member of Oakwood Memorial Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a deacon and as a leader and teacher in the Children’s Ministry. Her love for her family, her church, and the children she served was a meaningful part of her life and legacy.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Senior Home Share for the excellent, compassionate care they provided Norma during the last few years of her life. Their kindness, dedication, and loving support brought comfort to Norma and her family and will always be remembered with deep appreciation.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m., with services immediately following from 11:30 a.m. to noon at the mausoleum at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to CARITAS of Richmond.

Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, VA is serving the Carlton family.
