Odessa B. Hawkins, age 85, of Independence, Virginia died on August 13, 2020 at her home.  She was born on March 21, 1935 in Galax, Virginia to Tom Leland and Willie Agnes Porter Kirby.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Hawkins, and three brothers, two sisters, and a step-daughter.

She is survived by two daughters, Becky Boyer of Independence, Virginia and Wanda Bare of Jefferson, North Carolina; step-daughter and spouse, Fran and Jimmy Funk of Galax, Virginia; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 16 at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tom Burcham and Rev. Tim Crockett.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Independence, Virginia.  The family will be at the funeral from 1:00 until the hour of service.
