Oscar McKinney

Oscar John McKInney, age 83 went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2026, while residing at Commonwealth Senior Living Community in Hillsville, VA.

Oscar was a devout Christian who had served many roles within his church community.

He also was a master craftsman and former owner of McKinney Creations as well as a former employee of Drexel Heritage.

Oscar is survived by his wife, Sandra Earley McKinney. They were married 58 years. Also surviving is his son, Kevin J. McKinney (Jean); sisters, Linda Hollifield, (Charles), and Sarah McKinney; brother, Tim McKinney (Lisa); his sister-in-law, Demona Grindstaff; many nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alma Self and Floyd McKinney, and his sister, Shirley McKinney.

Services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with Rev. Bruce Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be conducted at Turkey Cove Cemetery in Marion, NC where he will be laid to rest among other members of his family.

In Oscars name and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Activity Fund at the Commonwealth Senior Living Center in Hillsville, VA 100 Kyle Drive, Hillsville, VA 24343.
