Mr. Oscar Douglas "Doug" Stanley, age 74, of Fries, VA passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Yadkinville Hospice Center in Yadkinville, NC. Doug was born on August 12, 1948, to the late Hix Anthony and Laily Esther Snow Stanley. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Donelee Peak Stanley; three brothers, Eddie, Darrell, and "Peanut" Stanley; two sisters, Eloise Murray, and Joyce Isom.

Doug was always happy to show and share his faith. He loved the Lord and his family as well as his church family at North Fries Tabernacle Church. His death has left a great void for a lot of people, Doug will be remembered as one who was often out working in his garden, looking forward to sharing his harvest with family and friends. He was often seen riding the side-by-side with the grandchildren or taking his place on the porch in his favorite rocking chair. While Doug loved his children and grandchildren, everyone agrees that there was a special bond between him and Riley, a great grandson. He is now in paradise with the one whose memory he held so dear, his loving wife of over 50 years, Virginia.

Mr. Stanley is survived by his daughter, Sheila Butcher of Fries, VA; two sons; Bob Stanley of Fries, VA, and Rocky and Sherry Stanley of Low Gap, NC; four sisters, Louise Hayes, Patricia and Marshall Shupe, Patsy Cornett, and Christine and Freddie Delp; four brothers, Larry and Debbie Stanley, Billy and Jan Stanley, Pete and Jackie Stanley, and Alan Stanley; sister-in-law, Robin Stanley; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren also are left to cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Rev. Larry Peak, Rev. Tim Byrd and Rev. Matt Linkous officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at the Stevens Creek Cemetery in Fries, VA with the Grayson County VFW performing military rites to honor his service in the US Army.
