Obituary

Pamela Renee Absher, age 54, of Mouth of Wilson, VA passed away on the early morning hours of Thursday, February 13, 2025, in Deer Meadows Rehab and Nursing Center in Abingdon, VA following an extended illness of several months.  Pam was born in Jefferson on July 6, 1970, to Samuel Quincy and Mabel Blevins Absher.

Pam's life was spent in dedication to helping others.  She was quick to give help to anybody in need and was always willing to give with a cheerful heart!  Her giving was equally unsurpassed where her opinions and thoughts were concerned.  Pam was one to freely offer her opinions and suggestions!  She was a dedicated worker, and her work ethic took her to many places including textile work at Mr. Casuals in Troutdale, VA, electronic components at Southern Device in West Jefferson, NC, Tyson Foods, in Wilkesboro, NC, Marley Moldings in Atkins, VA.  In recent years, she worked with Blue Ridge Resident Services as a Sponsored home Provider where she brought special needs individuals into her home to provide companionship and care.  Here she was able to display her compassion and genuine love and respect she held for everybody.  She was especially fond of her Down Syndrome residents as they quickly became members of her own family.  Pam was a great conversationalist and could talk with anybody.  Her life was lived without prejudices to anybody- she simply loved and respected everybody.  She had a great love for her family and enjoyed being with them.  The beach was among her most favorite places on the earth.  Those who loved Pam can rejoice that she has been delivered from all the physical ailments and constraints that bound her to the earth.  She is now free to roam the shores of paradise relieved of all her suffering.  While our hearts break at our great loss, we rejoice in her gain.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Scott and Mack Absher, one sister Roseann Greer, and one nephew, Bailey Howell.

She is survived by four sisters, Penny and Mike Sizemore of Mouth of Wilson, VA, Phyllis Stamper of Rural Retreat, VA, Macy and Marci Culbertson of Chilhowie, VA, and Judy Sizemore of Chilhowie; three brothers, Larry and Becky Absher of Whitetop, VA, Tim Absher of Dublin, VA and Kenny and Mary Absher of Marion, VA; special niece, Joy Absher of Mouth of Wilson, VA: several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday evening, Feb. 17, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Faith Lutheran Church in Whitetop, VA with Rev. Julian Owens officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Walls Cemetery in Whitetop, VA.
